The page of odds and sods...

The receptacle for all those bits and bobs that don't merit a home of their own.

First up, rather than blow our own trumpets, we thought it would be a nice touch to let others do it for us. Generous with our trumpets, we are.

"First act was The Lying Scotsman who were a good act to kick things off. Some fine acoustic guitar playing as I recall and a good choice of songs including covers of Great Big Sea and Chumbawamba songs. Jessi Adams of Eastfield sang and played acoustic guitar on a couple of songs with them and that was great to watch too and made it my 6th gig with Jessi as well as the 9 with Eastfield."

- kind words indeed about our Tallington appearance in August 2006 from Chris Butler who was on the same bill. Read his full review of the Ashes festival here.

"PS You rocked!"
- postscript of an email to Fiona from
Mr J Porter of Blyth Power after the Tallington Ashes 2006. We've always liked him, and admired his fine taste in music...

SLIMMER KARL, BIGGER BAND
"Following last years performance, Karl Robins made a welcome return to Bedford Park. He'd lost some weight, but gained some friends with additional vocals and bass giving Karl's music a fuller sound.

The Cafe crowd enjoyed a great performance from Lying Scotsman, but I'm not too sure on the name though, I thought Karl was from south of Hadrian's Wall."

- well, you can't please everyone all of the time, can you? We think Karl's a nice name. Review of the Bedford Stepping Stone gig, August 20th.

"...I just want to say a very big thank you for all you did for us on Sunday. The performance by The Lying Scotsman was spot on, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."

- extract of email sent by Sonja, landlady of the Oak Inn at Easton on the Hill following our gig to open the pub's new patio area.

"Great video - glad the fires of protest have not yet been extinguished!"
- email from a lady called Anne P who saw a link to the "Laughter" video on the blog to the Radio 4 programme "PM".

"CD arrived today. Love the pictures, and the autographs. Needless to say, I'm looking at it as an investment for the future! Good luck with it."
- a satisfied customer upon receipt of her copy of S.N.A.F.U. and yes, she wanted a signed copy....

"They've been on MySpace since August, have no 'friends' and the audio player doesn't work."
- comment on the BBC Radio 2 messageboards about us. The whole thread, such as it is, can be found here.
